Trailhead named in honor of Gabe Zimmerman

Tucson AZ – A special ceremony was held on January 4th to mark the naming of the Gabe Zimmerman Davidson Canyon Trail head, in honor of the January 8th shooting victim Gabe Zimmerman. The Pima County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously back in February to name the trailhead for 30-year-old Zimmerman.

Zimmerman and his mother, Emily Nottingham, were members of the Arizona Trail Association. To pay tribute to Zimmerman’s contributions, the association put in the request for the trailhead to be named after him. Family, friends and colleagues who attended the ceremony all agree that Gabe would have been honored because he adored being in the outdoors.

“This is a really special place and I think it’s a terrific idea to have trailhead named after Gabe here. Gabe was all about connecting people with one another and himself,” Emily Nottingham said.
The Arizona Trail Association said they’ve been working to add signs and other tribute areas for Zimmerman and the other January 8th victims.
